Saint Andrew’s Day
Join us as we honor Saint Andrew the Apostle, the patron of our parish, on his feast day. The service will be Saturday, November 30, at 11:00 am.
A patronal feast is a time for the church community to celebrate its namesake and give thanks for the legacy of faith that shapes our life together. The Feast of Saint Andrew calls us to reflect on the faithful witness of the first-called apostle, who followed Christ with courage and humility and became a “fisher of people.”
Tradition tells us that Saint Andrew was a fisherman by trade and the brother of Saint Peter. After hearing the call of Jesus, Andrew immediately left his nets to follow him, becoming one of his first disciples. Known for introducing others to Christ—including his own brother—Andrew’s life reminds us of the power of simple, faithful invitation.
Later, Andrew is said to have carried the Gospel to regions as far as Greece and Asia Minor, and he is believed to have been martyred on an X-shaped cross in the city of Patras. For centuries, he has been venerated as the patron saint of fishermen, Scotland, and our parish, among others.
NOTE! TO ACCOMMODATE THE ALABAMA VS. AUBURN FOOTBALL GAME, WE'VE CHANGED THE ORIGINAL TIME OF THE SERVICE FROM 6:30 PM TO 11:00 AM. THE GAME BEGINS AT 2:30 PM, SO THERE'S PLENTY OF TIME TO ATTEND CHURCH AND PRAY FOR YOUR PREFERED TEAM, AND THEN RUN HOME TO WATCH THE GAME!
