The Feast of the Epiphany

"Glory to the Light of the just, who has brought the star of the Magi from the East, and by its brightness has made known the Light of the world, who is Christ. The darkness of error has been dispersed, and the world is enlightened by His appearing." (Saint Ephrem of Syria)

The word Epiphany comes from the Greek, meaning “appearance” or “manifestation.” On January 6, the Church celebrates the universal revelation of God in Jesus Christ to the world. Epiphany commemorates the visit of the Magi—wise travelers from the East—who followed a star to Bethlehem to honor the Christ-child. Their journey symbolizes the day when all nations and peoples will recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Join us at Saint Andrew’s for a service celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany on Saturday, January 6, at 6:30 pm. The liturgy will conclude with the cherished tradition of chalking the door of the church, as we mark the year ahead with a blessing and dedicate ourselves anew to sharing Christ’s light in the world.
